At Visionary Mentoring, safeguarding is central to our mission.

 We maintain rigorous standards to create a supportive and secure environment for all young people participating in our programs. This page outlines our approach to governance and safeguarding, highlighting our commitments and responsibilities.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

We prioritise the safety, welfare, and personal development of every individual we mentor. Our safeguarding practices comply fully with UK safeguarding standards and legislation, including:

  • Children Act 1989 and 2004
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2024

Safeguarding Training

All mentors at Visionary Mentoring complete comprehensive safeguarding training, ensuring they are prepared to recognise, report, and respond effectively to any concerns:

  • All staff: Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked 
  • Mentors: Trained to Safeguarding Level 2
  • Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Trained to Safeguarding Level 3
  • Training is refreshed annually to ensure continuous compliance with current standards.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Elton Chawatama, who oversees all safeguarding matters within Visionary Mentoring. Elton ensures policies are adhered to, training is up-to-date, and concerns are managed promptly and effectively.

Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

Immediately speak to a Visionary Mentoring mentor or staff member.

If needed, escalate your concern directly to our Designated Safeguarding Lead. 

either directly or using the email: safeguarding@visionarymentoring.com

 

The DSL will investigate all concerns and take necessary actions in line with our safeguarding procedures and, if appropriate, inform relevant authorities.
